About
“Christ’s invitation to the priesthood is an invitation to a way of life that is athletic in its intensity and heroic in its form.” – Bishop Robert Barron
Holy Orders is the sacrament through which Christ calls men to serve His Church as deacons, priests, and bishops. Through the laying on of hands and the power of the Holy Spirit, they are configured to Christ and entrusted with preaching the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments, and shepherding God’s people.
“Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees: episcopate, presbyterate, and diaconate.” – Catechism of the Catholic Church 1536
